This poor movie is cursed. Blake Lively's The Rhythm Section went through so much just to make it to screens, I feel bad kicking it while it's down. But it's down, all right. It was down from most critics and viewers, and now the opening weekend box office. Box Office Pro's longterm forecast initially expected an opening for The Rhythm Section anywhere from 10M-15M. That was adjusted last week to around 5 million, per Box Office Mojo. But the movie didn't even manage to make that much. Instead, The Rhythm Section just barely made the top 10 of the domestic box office chart for January 31-February 2, 2020 with 2. 8 million from 3, 049 screens, giving it a truly sad per-screen-average of just 918. According to Deadline, with that 2. 8 million, The Rhythm Section now has the record for the worst opening for a movie that opened on more than 3, 000 screens. That means 2006's Hoot can now breathe a sigh of relief with its 3. 4 million. That 2. 8 million also marks a personal low for Blake Lively, with her worst wide opening ever, dropping from the 9. 8 million in 2005 for The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. But hey, even Keanu Reeves had the worst opening of his career last year and still went on to completely own 2019. Lively should be OK. But what a disappointment! The Rhythm Section reportedly had a production budget of 50 million, so at least it's not going to see a loss like Dolittle or Cats. Deadline pegged the potential studio losses around 30M-40M. Blake Lively's stunt injury during production ended up delaying the shoot much longer than anyone anticipated when her first surgery didn't go as planned. Surprisingly or not, that didn't raise the production costs because insurance reportedly covered the gap. Not that that would help Lively feel much better. She hurt her hand in a fight with co-star Jude Law and explained to CinemaBlend how her shattered hand ended up in the movie. The Rhythm Section moved release dates a couple of times. It was meant to come out around this time last year and then was moved to November 2019. Deadline was told that the film's final move to the end of January 31 was for Blake Lively to be able to promote the film after giving birth to her third child in 2019. Reviews for The Rhythm Section haven't been great at all, but CinemaBlends own Mike Reyes was a fan of the movie and gave it 3. 5 out of 5 stars. Blake Lively got strong reviews for her performance. Unfortunately, the viewers who did go see the movie rated it low with 43% on RT, a 5. 5/10 rating so far on IMDb, and a C+ CinemaScore. Still, even with all of the problems and rescheduling and releasing the movie at the end of January, I am still surprised that more fans didn't turn out for The Rhythm Section. After all, Blake Lively has been teasing fans about her movie transformation for a long time now, and people seemed really intrigued (if also confused about when she was wearing character makeup. Have you seen The Rhythm Section yet? If so, what did you think? If not, do you plan to see it at some point. in the theater or when it's available at home on Netflix or elsewhere.

Star Blake Lively continues to be an underrated onscreen chameleon in Reed Moranos chilly actioner. Forgive the inscrutable title: Reed Morano s “ The Rhythm Section ” will explain away its awkward name in due time, though it will likely only inspire viewers to wish for something even weirder to try to sum up the filmmakers third feature film. A gritty, anti-James Bond thriller about the futility of revenge and the limits of violence, “The Rhythm Section” might as well be called “This Hurts a Lot, ” because the Blake Lively -starring adaptation of Mark Burnells novel leaves a mark on both its star and audience. “Im not looking to get healed, ” Livelys Stephanie huffs at someone halfway through the dark drama, about as close to an ethos as her nihilistic anti-heroine has to offer. Thats not to say shes not compelling, or that she doesnt start to evolve as the mystery winds on. Its less a film about secret spies and global conspiracies (though that stuff is there, too) than an exploration of the price of guilt and the weight of trauma. Lively makes off with one of her best performances ever, and one that makes an unexpected case for giving the actress a real action franchise next time around. One of contemporary cinemas most underrated chameleons, Lively throws herself into the role with real gusto (that the actress injured herself so badly during a fight scene that production had to be put on hold is not in the least bit surprising, as unfortunate as it was. The physicality of Livelys performance goes beyond those fight scenes, however — and these are impressive fight scenes, gritty and bruising, every punch and grunt jumping off the screen. Shes tasked with embodying not just an untested, accidentally made assassin, but a woman living in visceral trauma. The globe-trotting, time-spanning film opens at Stephanies lowest point: Three years after a horrific tragedy that took her entire family (mom, dad, brother, sister, all introduced during flashbacks that play over the films credits) the former Oxford whiz kid is living in a makeshift London brothel when a new client reveals hes really an undercover reporter with a crazy story to tell. Stephanies family died in a plane crash, but what Keith (Raza Jaffrey) tells her only further twists the knife into her life-consuming rage and guilt: it wasnt some random accident, it was an act of terrorism that claimed hundreds of lives in the process of offing one major target. With nothing left to lose, Stephanie eventually opts to seek out all associated parties and take care of them — “violently, ” she explains to one ally — despite having zero background in fighting, spying, espionage, or any other related dark arts. Its a compelling plot, but not a complex one, as its straight arrow slowly melts into something needlessly complicated. Stephanies rage is understandable, but some of the twists that follow from it are improbable and the relationships she forms along the way are unlikely (especially one that takes root in the films final act. Burnells script (the author adapted his own novel for the film, his first venture into filmmaking) works hard to sell Jude Laws appearance as an unexpected mentor, and he and Lively exhibit enough chemistry as at-odds allies to smooth over the wrinkles in their association. (Sterling K. Brown, essentially stepping in as the male lead in the films second half, doesnt make out as easily. ) The film is, given Moranos background in cinematography, gorgeously shot, often taking its cues from Stephanies limited point of view. Cinematographer Sean Bobbitts compositions are both chilly and evocative, and serve Moranos hard-hitting fight sequences well, adding heft to already gutting scenes. A dizzying single-take car chase halfway through the film appears to be lensed by someone sitting in the seat next to Stephanie, and serves as one hell of a cinematic rebuttal of other, more polished sequences in similar films. For all its bite, theres still a razor-thin edge of black comedy running through the film even in its darkest moments, a risk that pays off while others falter. (Laws anonymous former MI6 agent pushes an ailing Stephanie to shape up through rigorous training, and Livelys responses earn the laughs she and Morano easily layer in. A dissonant soundtrack of cheeky songs is more distracting than anything, and often its Hans Zimmers (literally) pulse-pounding score that proves most effective at driving tension and emotion. The films greatest asset is baked right in: Stephanie isnt an instant super-spy, despite her drive and Jude Law-issued training. Thats not enough to suddenly turn anyone into a new wave James Bond, and that she falters at essential moments is what keeps “The Rhythm Section” pulsating along through an ending as messy and big as Stephanies pain itself. That it all but begs for a sequel (Burnells book has, so far, spawned three followup novels) is its final trick, not because actioners like “The Rhythm Section” always seem to be next in line for the franchise treatment, but because its unique enough to actually deserve to cut through the scrum. Not every thriller gets a happy ending, but at least Stephanie makes hers hit hard enough to matter. Grade: B “The Rhythm Section” is currently in theaters. Blake Lively's career is a mystery to me. So little talent, so many bad, bad movies. I didnt recognize her. When are we getting the percy Jackson reboot. If this guy started in the 90s we'd be tallking about the legendary Micheal Che. In today's age of filters and fillers, cultivating an image that is anything less than glossy can feel like something of a relic—which is likely why Blake Lively 's latest turn in The Rhythm Section feels at once jarring and refreshing. The actress took to Instagram today to share a selfie of her partially made-up face alongside a snap of her in full-face makeup designed to make her look haggard rather than flawless. "Facetune broke. quipped Lively in her caption, crediting makeup artist Vivian Baker for both pictured looks. The Rhythm Section stars Lively as Stephanie Patrick, a woman who has lost her family and seeks to avenge their deaths by executing revenge with many disguises (and wigs. In today's post, Lively sports a shaggy mop of ashy blonde hair, all the better to frame her no-makeup-makeup look. When considering the transformation, one can't help but recall Charlize Theron's turn as Aileen Wuornos in Monster. Though Theron's makeunder was undoubtedly more dramatic, both she and Lively represent the epitome of Hollywood glamour, and so the aesthetic shifts read similarly shocking. Considering the slew of disguises in the trailer alone, we're looking forward to all of the visual versions of Lively's Patrick—and how each works to strengthen the story.

Pure beauty, pure talent and the most beautiful soul. ❤️. Whoever made this definitely played The Last Of Us. Well the trailer looks very good lets watch the movie... One of my favourite stand up performance. Bravo. Anne always shines on thrillers and dramas. Background credit. That moment when Post Malone already looks perfect for a role as an inmate. She is pregnant again? If so Ryan has a super sperm 😂😂 They do make beautiful kids. That looks like a good movie to see can't wait ✊🏽✊🏽. O tere sang 😍😍😍. When I saw the thumbnail I was like... tf... that looks like Blake lively! I skipped it then I checked it again and I read the description or whatever and I was like, woahhh she looks sooo different oo. For Hollywood to have never been wealthier, we're really treading through the bottom of the barrel. I got excited cause Britt Robertson is my favourite ever but i cant watch movies like this they make me too sad so now I'm sad. Shes like layla from mobile legend.

Way too much revealed in the trailer, as usual. Looks fun, but now I've seen half of it. Its looking Cool Action Movie to watch. The fact that Chris and Jeremy related the review at the same time Which should i watch. This is the stuff I'm taking about, wow, the production value shouts out from every shot 🤯. So are we going to talk about how good grace look with her hair. My teachers daughter directed this. I think she is a amazing actress. I am still working on thinking of watching this movie. There is no human left on earth without chemicals in their blood put there by DuPont's actions. This should have been made a long time ago.
